It doesn’t matter whether you come in first, in the middle, or last. You can say ‘I have finished.’ There is a lot of satisfaction in that. -Fred Lebow

Go to five tourist attractions in Indy: My friend Jacqui and I participated in the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon on May 5. This wraps up number 5 of “go to five tourist attractions in Indy” as it is the nations largest half marathon and included a pit stop at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (home of the Indy 500 for those unfamiliar with racing). There were 35,000 registrants, not sure how many actually participated or finished. The course started downtown and took us out to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for part of a lap and then back downtown to the finish. I was most excited for the stretch of the course on the speedway, but I was more than ready to get off the super hot track while actually walking! The day didn’t start out too hot, but it definitely warmed up quickly. We sure did not have a record time, but we enjoyed our 3.5 hour long walk! (well if I’m being honest I enjoyed up to mile 11ish then I just wanted to sit down, like really just wanted to sit) I do plan on running a half someday, but when I do I will actually train for it and not just decide the day before at noonish that it would be a “great” idea to do this. Here is a shout out to Jacqui’s fiance Jerrad for dropping us off and for Jerrad’s mom for picking us up! THANKS! Below are some snapshots of my computer screen with some photos so they are not the best quality, but they are the best I have.
